Dear JHC,
Caleb was born on July 17, 1999 when he was born he was born with a club foot the first yr and half of his life was spent in and out of casts, braces, shoes and 2 surguries. when he was 3 yrs old he was diagnosed with Severe speech and learning disablities. He got over the learning part but still struggles today with the speech problems. On April 12, 2004 Caleb woke from a nap running a very high temp. I rushed him to the ER and asked them also to run a test for anemia because he was literally bruised head to toe. The test confirmed he was severely anemic and we were transported to Loma Linda Children's hospital where on 4/14/04 he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocrytic leukemia. He has been hit harder now with all the chemo that he has to undergo and he's also developing diabeties as well with all the chemo and steriods that he has to take.
But Caleb takes everything in stride. Everyone loves him and everyone just holds tight and prays for him. he's a very special kid and I am glad to be able to share him with the world to tell his story and teach and show other parents there's help out there.
I am thankful to people like Jesica's Hope Chest for the help they offer to families like ours. To make life a little easier to pay a bill or to even take the child to buy something that they want. When you become a single income family where only 1 can work and the other always at home or at the hospital it becomes a huge struggle on the resources. Thank You Jesica's Hope Chest for helping us.
Shannon
