Dear friends,
I'm the mother of Catherine. I want to thank you for the help that you all gave to us while we were in St. Louis, MO. (we are from Chicago, IL.) waiting for a double lung transplant for our little daughter.
I'm sorry to tell you that Kathy passed away March, 6, 2006 in the St. Louis Children's Hospital PICU, when she was just 6 years old. As a mother, I feel like she "fell asleep", because she passed without suffering, pain and leaving around her just peace and quietness. She turned off as a candle because in very few minutes, her heart rate, pressure and oxygen level started decreasing until it got to zero. We still have the consolation that she's not suffering anymore; she was connected to the ventilator machine for 3 weeks. Now she doesn't feel pain nor she have needles all over her body.
I know she's with me every moment. We did the impossible for her as soon as we knew she had Cystic-Fibrosis. We got the diagnostic in Santiago, Chile when she was 11 months. We moved to the USA because her father was born here. She received the best attention during the years she spent with us.
If you had known her, you would know she always had a big smile for everyone. She was lovely and charming and the most beautiful girl in the world.
Kathy, we’ll love you forever! Thank God for the wonderful 6 years we spent together.
Thanks to everybody for helping us every moment,
Alfred and Elizabeth
