Last Name: Hazard RN
Body: Hello, My name is Amber Hazard and I am a Registered Nurse working at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. We have a non-citizen little girl from Honduras here who has liver failure and is going to die. She currently has a DNR and is on our Pediatric Unit. She was transferred from here to Duke UMC last week but they said there is nothing they can do for her because her liver and body is too diseased to accept another organ. So they returned her to us on Friday. I have been taking care of her and with the small amount of Spanish that I speak I am able to communicate but I think there must be more that can be done for this girl. She is not a citizen and that seems to be a roadblock to many, but surely there must be something that can be done. My question is: is there anything you can do for her or her family? She is here with her father and of course her wish is to see her mother before she dies but her mother is in Honduras. The medical team yesterday said they are willing to cremate her and give her father her ashes to take home but he cannot think of such a terrible thing to happen to his daughter. Is there any way for you all to help this family? If you are able to assist in any way or you have any information on another organization that can help, please let us know.
Thank you for your time and attention.
