We needed to revamp our Red Ribbon Campaign! We were not aware of it when we decided on red as our color (we chose it becasue it was Jesica's favorite color), but it is actually the color for supporting HIV awareness, and since JHC wants all good causes to get proper recognition, we have checked it out (and we were graciously told by someone in an email - thank you, by the way) that the color for supporting ORGAN DONATION is GREEN.
We've all tied ribbons on our cars, our trees, our doors and our mailboxes, in support of a lot of different things. Everything from supporting our military to supporting those fighting cancer.
Well, here is your chance to show your support of our sweet Jesica and all of those waiting for life saving organ donations.
Tie on your GREEN ribbon, pin it to your coat, shirt or neck tie to show your support and to remind others to become organ donors.
Also, it is very important to remember that you need to discuss with your family your decision to become an organ donor. It will ultimately be your family who will make the decision of whether or not your organs can be donated. Even if you have an organ donor card or you have checked that little box on your drivers licence, your family still holds the power, once you are gone, over whether or not you will be a donor. So, let them know how important you think it is and help them understand that when your time comes, you want to help save some else’s life.
