A letter to JHC about Jordan | |||
Dear JHC,| My son's name is Jordan. Jordan was diagnosed with Stage II
Lymphoblast Lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin's Disease on October 24, 2000. Lymphoma is a type of cancer that forms in the lymphoid glands, and flows throughout the bloodstream. The cancer was located in his lower stomach and in his groin area.
| I had heard of JHC through my co-worker, Susan Hale, and through the local newspaper in Louisburg. I wasn't sure of what the Hope Chest consisted of until one day the founders came onto my job and offered to help my son. After going through the proper channels of paperwork, not only the financial help was available, but a new family was created. The Hope Chest has been such a blessing to our whole family. When the Hope Chest got involved I no longer had to worry about money and the doctor bills being paid because the Hope Chest was there to help in any way that was needed. After going through 18 months of chemotherapy treatments, Jordan has now become cancer free. On June 12, 2002 the doctors confirmed that we no longer had to come to Duke for treatments. Jordan went through surgery to have the infusa-port removed and now he is recovering at home. We will still have to go to Duke Children's Hospital for check-ups for the next 5 years to make sure that the cancer has not come back. We are very excited that the cancer is gone. As we look back over the past eighteen months we wouldn't change anything because it has brought us closer that ever before. A special thanks to all of you that we have never met but you have given from the depths of you hearts financial and through your prayers. Jordan is on his way to a very healthy and prosperous life. The sky is the limit for him to have and do whatever he so desires. Thank you so much everyone, | Hope | |
